About the Lecturer:
Gloria Mason Henderson was born in Crossett, Arkansas, and attended Hendrix College, where she majored in English. She received her M.A. from Vanderbilt University and her Ph.D. from Georgia State University. In between working on the degrees she taught at almost every level: Language Arts in seventh and eighth grades in Knoxville, Tennessee; advanced eleventh grade English at Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia; and Freshman and Sophomore English at Georgia Perimeter College and at Georgia State University. Since 1985 she has been Professor of English at Gordon College in Georgia, serving for eight of those years as Chair of Language and Literature. With Sandra Stevenson Waller and Bill Day, she has edited Literature and Ourselves: A Thematic Introduction for Readers and Writers. She is listed in Who's Who among American Teachers and Who's Who of American Women. She and her husband live in the country near Griffin, Georgia.
